Join us in serving hope to our community. Our success in delivering meals and more
to homebound individuals in Sarasota depends on the whole community.

Meals On Wheels of Sarasota depends on generous community members, students and corporate partners to package and deliver meals each day. The individual connection that each volunteer has is as nourishing as the food provided. Whether you give your time once a week or once a month, your support is invaluable to fulfilling the Meals On Wheels mission and impacting the lives of hundreds each day.

Who We Serve

Our service area is from the Gulf of Mexico and east to the Sarasota County line, University Parkway and south to Albee Farm Road. This area is divided into 48 routes and covers 800 square miles.

Meal Delivery

Volunteers are needed Monday through Saturday to deliver nutritious meals to needy individuals in Sarasota County. Meals are delivered during the morning hours and can be picked up at our main office. Delivery only takes 1 to 1½ hours. The Adopt-A-Route (AAR) program provides an excellent way for companies and civic and faith-based organizations to engage in community service. Through a partnership with Meals On Wheels of Sarasota, groups offer their employees or members volunteer time to deliver mid-day meals.

If you are interested in becoming a Meals On Wheels of Sarasota AAR partner, call (941) 366-6693 or contact Judy Johnston.

How to become an AAR Partner:
(1) The AAR selects a delivery day (Monday – Saturday).
(2) The AAR determines the frequency (once a week or once every other week) of meal delivery.
(3) The group can rotate through their employees or members as their availability allows.

Getting Started as A Volunteer Meal Delivery Driver

Just two hours of your time and your vehicle will make all the difference. You only need a valid driver’s license and proof of auto insurance. We provide the necessary volunteer training, and we will work with your schedule. We require a background check prior to working with us.

Kitchen Help

Perfect for individuals or groups, our meal packaging takes place at our offices Monday through Saturday between 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. Volunteers get a first-hand look at exactly what it takes to get 750+ meals out the door each day.

 Community Service Credits

High school students can fulfill their community service hours here from 8 a.m. to noon.

 Desk Personnel

Our work relies on volunteers who help with our day-to-day services, such as computer and phone use, writing down names and addresses of clients, and processing paperwork for drivers.
