Meals on Wheels of Sarasota depends on generous community members, students and corporate partners to package and deliver meals each day. The individual connection that each volunteer has is as nourishing as the food provided. Whether you give your time once a week or once a month, your support is invaluable to fulfilling our mission and impacting hundreds of lives each day.
Our service area is northern Sarasota County; from the Gulf of Mexico on the west to the Sarasota County line in the east, north from University Parkway to Laurel Road in the south.
ALL VOLUNTEER SHIFTS OCCUR MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY AT OUR OFFICE:
Meals are delivered during the morning hours and can be picked up at our main office between 10:00 AM and 11:30 AM. Each route takes between 1 to 2 hours.
You need a valid driver’s license and proof of auto insurance. We provide the training and will work with your schedule. We require a background check prior to working with us.
Perfect for individuals or groups, our meal packaging takes place inside our office. Packers are expected to arrive at 9:30 AM and their shift finishes at 10:45 AM. Volunteers get a first-hand look at what it takes to get 500 meals into the community each day.
Our kitchen helpers is where our service begins. 5-6 volunteers are needed to daily to be on the kitchen line and help scoop the food into the trays and seal them. Kitchen helpers arrive at 9:30 AM and and their shift finishes at 10:30 AM.
Community Service
High school students can fulfill their community service hours Monday – Friday from 9:30 – 11:00 a.m.
