Mission:
Meals on Wheels of Sarasota provides daily nutritious meals, social interaction, and wellness checks for the homebound or elderly in our community.

Sarasota residents are empowered to live independently with access to services that eliminate hunger and isolation.
Founded in 1971, Meals on Wheels of Sarasota is registered, 501 c3 not-for-profit organization. We are members of Meals on Wheels America, and operated independently by a board of directors. Our organization has four full-time and four part-time staff, and relies on the help of 500 volunteers annually to deliver More Than A Meal.
Our services are geared toward those with the greatest physical, social and economic need who want to remain independent in their home but cannot shop or prepare their meal.

Founded by local churches and community leaders in 1971, Meals on Wheels of Sarasota expanded on an earlier federal community meal service program in response to the needs of home-bound seniors, veterans, and physically and mentally disabled Sarasotans of all ages in the northern Sarasota County area.
We delivered our first meal on December 7, 1971. Since then, we have delivered over seven million meals, an average of 125,000 meals annually.
Through the years, the number of clients served has increased and the need continues to grow as the population ages. You can help support our mission by volunteering or giving a gift.
